Four student CIEH members have put themselves forward for election to the CIEH Assembly of Representatives.

The new assembly has been set up as part of an overhaul in the way the organisation is governed. It is constituted from 32 members, representing the regions, special interest groups and the student community.

The assembly will be able to use its democratic validity to influence CIEH governing boards and committees, as well as being involved in recruiting trustees and committee members.

Student candidates include Natalie Armitage of Leeds Metropolitan University, Craig Cardross Grant, Veronica Lee-Thompson of Birmingham University and Delcina Burden of Middlesex University.

The successful candidate will join existing assembly member Emma Gall as one of two student representatives.

CIEH student members have been asked to consider each candidates manifesto published on the CIEH website and vote for their preferred choice. Ballots can be completed online or by post.

CIEH membership manager Jon Buttolph said: ‘It is encouraging to see such interest from our student members, their dedication and involvement is a crucial factor in the future of the environmental health profession.’
